Each of the drawings in “Ani-male” shows a different creature taking time to appreciate life in the absence of work. I want to capture a specific moment where the character has “let go” of burdens and schedules, something I hope viewers will relate to. I firmly believe hard work is vital to leading a fulfilled and successful life, but taking time off is just as vital. We sometimes forget that.

Jake Troyli was raised in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He works in pen-and-ink and oil. Troyli imparts his own dark, playful humor in most of his art—a glimpse into his subconscious. The absence of color in his line work allows him to portray a mood using only contrast, figure, and expression. Troyli is an exhibiting artist and illustrator and is working on his first children’s book. He considers commissioned works.  See more of Troyli’s art at www.jaketroyli.com.
